Testimony

Financially Free
From May 2000 – October 2003, I spent a great deal of money on medical expenses which were not covered by my health insurance. My visits to this doctor (who is highly specialized in his field), were covered at only 20% of the actual charge. He also prescribed numerous vitamins and supplements; none of these were covered by my insurance. So, in order to follow the program prescribed my doctor, I felt I had no choice but to charge these items on my credit card. I thought that I could pay it off when I received an extra check from work, 2 times per year. Unfortunately, that did not happen. When I received the extra check, there was always something else to spend the money on. Slowly, things began to snowball. I gradually got myself into a fairly substantial amount of credit card debt. And, I did not see any way of getting out of it.

Then in October 2003, I was involved in a serious automobile accident. My car was totaled, but I escaped with only bruised ribs. I asked for prayer at church the next Sunday. The man who prayed with me said, “Romans 8:28 applies.” (This verse says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose). I thought to myself - you have to be kidding; I can’t think of one good that might come from this accident. However, after the accident occurred, I noticed that my finances began turning around. I was able to buy clothes and other things that I had not been able to purchase in several years. I don’t know what happened. But I do know that something broke in the spirit realm which allowed a change in my finances on the day I had my car accident. At that time, I decided that I was going to be totally free of credit card debt by the end of June 2004. I also made a commitment to give10% of my gross income (not my net income) to the church. In the Bible, Malachi 3:10 says, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

I am proud to say that as of April 3, 2004, a full 3 months before my original goal, I am totally free of credit card debt! I can only give glory to one source, God!
