While I was in high school, I was searching for the answer to the question, “What is the purpose of this life?” I went to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, during spring break of my senior year. One night I was at a party. I thought to myself, “There must be more to life than this.” I then went off to college at Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, VA. I met a girl, my age, named Lynette. I really liked Lynette and wanted to be her friend. She took me to a Campus Crusade for Christ meeting. That night, Campus Crusade was going roller skating from midnight to 2am. Well, roller skating just happened to be one of my favorite things to do in high school. So I went by myself that night, since Lynette could not attend. I heard quite a few people talking about how they were Christians. I thought to myself, “I must be a Christian, I have attended church all of my life.” I really enjoyed myself that night, so I continued to go back to the Campus Crusade meetings on a weekly basis. I attended these meetings for about a month, and I began to read the Bible. I finally realized that church attendance by itself did not bring you eternal life. I needed to confess my sins, and ask Jesus to come into my heart and be Lord of my life. I went home that night and prayed a simple prayer of salvation by myself in the dorm room. After that, I knew I had become a Christian. I attended those weekly meetings for about 1 year. Finally I said to myself, “There has to be more to Christianity than this.” I began attending a Charismatic church while I was home that summer. Just before I left for summer break, I saw a sign for a Pentecostal church at Virginia Tech. However, the church was off campus and I did not have a car. I did not know how I was going to get there. Fortunately, God knew. I attended a Fall Retreat with Campus Crusade just before classes started for my sophomore year. God directed me to meet a guy there named Jay who had heard about the Pentecostal church also, and wanted to attend. He had a car, and I asked him if he could pick me. Jay and I attended that church together for the next 2 years. He became my best friend. Soon after I started attending, I was baptized in the Holy Spirit and have not looked back since. I praise God for what He has done in my life.
